Celebrating Year 1 in System Concepts’ new home

What we’ve been up to at our Kings Cross HQ and UX research labs

It’s been just over a year since we moved into our shiny new offices and UX labs space in Kings Cross, London. We’ve achieved a lot over an exciting first 12 months in our new home – here’s a little taster of some of the developments…

The big moment: moving in

We planned and oversaw a major office refit, ready to accommodate the team. The big moment duly arrived in April 2018, when we all moved in. We soon got the chance to make use of our roof terrace…!

Welcoming our clients

We’ve welcomed around 30 clients into our two superbly equipped new UX labs, where we carry out UX research on our clients’ behalf (these state of the art facilities are also available for hire by third parties).

The new labs have been a fantastic asset: we’ve run usability testing, product testing, interviews, focus groups, client workshops, training sessions and more in them. Highlights for our team have included setting up a vacuuming assault course to test a vacuum cleaner for Dyson, and conducting testing with a virtual reality headset for Finnish company, Varjo!

Staging and hosting industry events

We’ve made use of our event space by putting on our own industry events, as well as hosting activities organised by other UX-related organisations.

Our Health and Safety team ran a well received half-day briefing and networking session for employers, while our User Experience and Accessibility consultants have teamed-up with the User Experience Professionals Association (UXPA), The Research Thing and the User Research Huddle to host evenings of knowledge sharing within the community.

Having fun, too!

Alongside running lots of interesting client projects and industry events, we’ve also had a lot of fun in our first year in our new HQ. We all enjoyed a summer gathering on the terrace, a 90s-themed Christmas party, and many impromptu team lunches!
