Helen Cheetham

Helen holds a BSc (Hons.) in Occupational Therapy and a first-class MSc (Hons.) in Ergonomics (Human Factors) from Loughborough University, where she was awarded the Ergonomics Prize for Academic Excellence. She is an access auditor, trained by the Centre for Accessible Environments (CAE), and holds a Preparing to Teach in the Lifelong Learning Sector (PTLLS) qualification.

Helen has over 17 years of ergonomics and UX experience, which she applies to a host of different products, environments, services and systems, across multiple platforms in the public and private sectors. She provides practical, cost-effective advice and support to help clients evaluate and improve the user and customer experience from an ergonomics, usability and accessibility perspective. She helps clients meet their legal responsibilities and manage risk, prevent injuries and ill health, and improve employee well-being and productivity. She also delivers informative, engaging training courses.

Before joining System Concepts Helen worked for a specialist office ergonomics consultancy, where she was responsible for developing and delivering training courses, and performing complex workplace and vehicle ergonomics and manual handling assessments. She also spent three years working as a therapist in an acute hospital rehabilitation setting, where she developed insight about and empathy towards people with a variety of physical disabilities and medical issues. Her career experience has enabled her to hone her skills for observing behaviours, analysing postures, promoting independence, interviewing and eliciting feedback effectively from people, understanding complex and varied user needs and delivering tailored recommendations.
