Understanding the CDM (construction (design and management)) regulations 2007
A one day workshop to help those involved in construction, renovation or demolition work to understand their duties under the CDM Regulations 2007.  This course is based on the revised and simplified CDM Regulations which came into force in April 2007.

This course allows participants to understand their legal obligations and the roles of everybody involved in a construction project. This knowledge will help to ensure that the project is properly planned, and is safely completed to specification on time and budget, minimising the disruption to the rest of the business.

Who should attend?

Everyone who has duties under the Construction (Design and Management) Regulations, including clients who commission any construction, renovation or demolition work, Facilities Managers, contractors, designers, project managers and planners.

What skills and information will they learn?

On successful completion of this course, the participants will:

  • Understand the main requirements of the Construction (Design and Management) Regulations
  • Be able to identify when the CDM Regulations apply
  • Understand the roles of the duty holders, including clients, CDM co-ordinators, designers, principal contractors and other contractors
  • Understand the importance of the construction phase health and safety plan, and what information it should include
  • Understand what information needs to be gathered during a construction project to create the health and safety file.

Course content

This course focuses on the requirements in the CDM Regulations to properly plan and manage construction work.  It does not cover Part 4 of the Regulations (Duties relating to health and safety on construction sites) in detail.
