I'd like to put together a document which summarises standards relevant to computer ergonomics (both hardware and software) around the world (i.e. all national standards as well as the international ones, significant differences between them, anything more strict than that covered by ISO, etc). Does such a document already exist, or could you assist me with a list of those standards that you know about and what they cover? I am familiar with most of the relevant ISO standards so I think it is mainly a question of the national ones.
It sounds rather an ambitious task you have set yourself. I do not have a single list of relevant standards. Indeed, one of the problems is deciding what is covered by the term 'computer ergonomics'.
Clearly the work of ISO TC159 SC4 is relevant but then so too is JTC1 SC18 WG9 work as well as some of the CEN machine safety material etc. I believe Tomas has a copy of the Directory of HCI Standards which I produced a few years ago for the DTI in the UK which gives sources for these and others including ETSI, ECMA etc.
The most comprehensive coverage I have seen is a book which Wanda Smith has drafted. I reviewed an early draft last year and it must be getting close to publication now. (Tomas can give you her current address
