Better Safe Than Sorry
Our health and safety team have kindly provided their tips to help you improve your domestic health and safety procedures this Christmas.
1. Make
sure your Work at Heights risk assessments are up to date -
Santa's
little helpers have warned that they will be suing householders for any falls
from roofs this Christmas.
2. Be careful when preparing your Christmas birds - remember "turkey-stuffers-RSI" is a new reportable disease and stuffing turkeys requires awkward wrist movements at cold temperatures.
3. Plan your Christmas security well - for example, to prevent any strange men coming in down the chimney.
4. Don’t expect any large or heavy presents - Santa's manual handling risk assessments have reduced the size of present sacks he can carry.
5. Check your Christmas lights provide 300-500 lux on the work surface under the tree to prevent eye-strain amongst Santa's little helpers when they distribute presents.
6. Demand details of Santa’s Criminal Records Bureau check before letting him into your children's bedrooms.
7. Keep
those ear defenders handily near the front door. Noise assessments
of Carol singers have shown them to exceed 80 decibels in full voice.
8. Avoid choking hazards in your Christmas Pudding - replace the sixpence with a dustbin lid.
9. For the comfort and safety of all your guests, install Local Exhaust Ventilation for all those who have a second helping of sprouts.....
With best wishes for a safe and happy Christmas,
Tanya, Jerry and John
