Biography

Rebecca started as a consultant with System Concepts in January 2010.  She holds a first class honours degree in Human Biology, a Diploma in Professional Studies and a Masters degree with distinction from Loughborough University.  She is also a member of the Usability Professionals Association and the Institute of Ergonomics and Human Factors.  Rebecca has experience in both quantitative and qualitative methods of data collection and analysis including, observations (both direct and indirect) interviews, questionnaires, surveys, focus groups and workshops.

Since joining System Concepts, Rebecca has been involved in running user experience, usability and accessibility testing projects.  This has included: one to one interviews, focus groups and workshops with both adults and children.  Rebecca has conducted sessions with websites, mobile phones and other physical products.  She has experience working with both low and high fidelity prototypes and engaging in an iterative user centred design approach both with end users and the client’s design team.  She also has experience conducting early concept research, user requirements gathering and facilitating participatory design workshops.

Rebecca has also been involved in conducting health and safety, Disability Discrimination Act compliance and ergonomics assessments for a variety of clients.  These assessments involved observing users interact with their workstation, task analysis, conducting interviews and making ergonomic assessments including dimensional measurements and postural analysis.  Rebecca has carried out display screen equipment, noise, lighting and thermal assessments at various client sites; she had also conducted noise awareness and noise reduction training.  For each project, she made practical business-focused recommendations and advised on how to reduce and resolve ergonomics and health and safety issues and how to apply human factors engineering principles in the future.

Prior to joining System Concepts Rebecca worked in the field of environmental ergonomics for the Human Thermal Environment Laboratory at Loughborough University.  Here her work was focused on the thermal environment and human interaction with their environment.
