Biography
Vicky holds a BSc in Psychology with Ergonomics from Loughborough University. She also completed a Diploma in Professional Studies, working with the Rail Safety and Standards Board. Her dissertation investigated the influence of audio announcements on passenger behaviour on the train platform, completed for South West Trains. This investigated a range of speech warning designs and conditions of use. She was awarded the Trust Prize from Loughborough University for exceptional performance during her final year of study. Vicky is a graduate member of the Institute of Ergonomics and Human Factors, currently working towards becoming a registered member, and is a member of the Usability Professionals Association.

- In context interviews, observations and surveys to provide advice regarding rest breaks and the use of Display Screen Equipment (DSE) for Network Rail signalling staff
- Rapid Iterative Testing and Evaluation (RITE) of a low fidelity prototype for a new interface design for a leading global electronics manufacturer
- Providing ergonomics expertise to help a global energy company procure a wide range of furniture, equipment and accessories, using ergonomics / accessibility principles to specify and select the items and reducing the risk of ill-health, injury and accidents through selecting inappropriate products
- Overseeing the implementation of the IRIS membership database software, Integra, within the examinations team at the Royal College of Anaesthetists
- Conducting safety and ergonomics assessments of train maintenance operational processes in various UK site locations
- Developing bespoke training courses and working materials on ergonomics topics tailored for clients within the rail industry
- Delivering Human Factors Awareness Training to clients within the rail industry
- Reviewing various railway accident investigations using a systems ergonomics approach
- Carrying out an ergonomics investigation of train drivers’ operational tasks following a series of accidents with emphasis on identifying the types of human error
