Laurene McCafferty

Biography

Laurene has a PhD in Usability Engineering from the University of Edinburgh and an MA (Hons) in Sociology from the University of Glasgow.

Laurene is an experienced usability research consultant who has worked across a variety of industries and delivered user-centred solutions that meet the needs of customers whilst making sure clients’ business objectives are met.  Her sociology background places her in a strong position to understand and articulate the nuances of human behaviour and provide key observations to help place users at the heart of the site development process.

 Before joining System Concepts, Laurene worked as a Usability Consultant at User Vision where she ran projects for a range of leading organisations within the financial services, government, media, publishing and retail sectors.  Laurene’s  recommendations have been implemented to help streamline companies’ online processes and ensure an excellent customer experience  with proven results.  Prior to this she worked at the Centre for Communication Interface Research during which time she completed her PhD and carried out usability testing on new services and technology for one of the ‘Big Five’ banks.

Laurene has had articles published in industry magazines and sites involving usability of the Apple UK and B&Q sites, issues around the online sharing of information, online collaboration tools, social network privacy issues and successful customer feedback options.  She also has a particular interest in the application of social media.
