Biography

Beth started as a consultant with System Concepts in 2008.  She achieved a first class honours degree in Ergonomics and Psychology from Loughborough University.  Beth was awarded the Ergonomics and Psychology prize for Academic Excellence during her time at Loughborough University.  She is a member of the Ergonomics Society.
Beth conducted her final year research dissertation on virtually induced motion sickness in commercial console games, investigating the occurrence of any nauseogenic symptoms. This research involved a thorough literature review, followed by a repeated measures experiment to determine whether there was a difference in symptoms during dynamic game play (on the Nintendo Wii) in comparison to static game play (on the Sony Playstation). SPSS was used to analyse the results.
Since joining System Concepts, Beth has been involved in a wide range of consultancy work which has included usability and accessibility testing, participatory design, heuristic evaluations, competitor analysis, industrial ergonomics, workplace ergonomics, and mobile usability and accessibility.

Clients Projects/Case studies

• Conducting usability testing including: researching key users, creating scenarios for testing, data analysis and preparation of reports for clients including; BBC (including multi-platform research), the London 2012 website, Department of Transport, Learn Direct and Cathay Pacific
• Conducting accessibility testing with numerous assistive technologies (with real users) and data analysis for numerous clients including the Cathay Pacific and the BBC (including multi-platform research).
• Conducting Accessibility Audits for multiple clients including the Department for Transport, BBC, Cathay Pacific and LDA (London Development Agency).
• Conducting an expert review and competitor analysis for a leading insurance company on an application delivered by three of its key competitors to provide advice on a best of breed application.
• Industrial ergonomics risk assessment including solution-generation for manual handling issues at a Cadburys warehouse.
• Office ergonomics and workstation design for a number of companies including a large professional service firm.
