He holds a BSc in Information Management and Computing from Loughborough University, and an MSc in Human-Computer Interaction with Ergonomics from University College London. He is also a member of the Usability Professionals’ Association, the Ergonomics Society and the British Computer Society. He received a Diploma of Professional Studies when he worked for a year at Xerox: Global Knowledge and Language Services (GKLS) providing IT support for translators and desktop publishers. While undertaking his master’s degree he studied usability and ergonomics, including: user interface design and evaluation, user testing, human cognitive capabilities, physical ergonomics and organisational informatics. Matt’s MSc thesis evaluated the aesthetics of websites using a materials analysis questionnaire and a set of visual design heuristics, which he developed.
