Biography

Joanne is a consultant with System Concepts Ltd.  She holds a BSc (Hons) Degree in Environmental Health from Kings College, London and is a Member of the Chartered Institute of Environmental Health (CIEH).  She also holds a NEBOSH Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety Practice and is a member of IOSH as a GradIOSH.

Joanne has worked for several Local Authority Environmental Health Departments in food safety, food standards and health and safety roles. Her responsibilities were primarily in relation to commercial premises and included:

  • Conducting food safety and standards inspections
  • Carrying out health and safety inspections
  • Investigating accidents
  • Conducting infectious disease investigations
  • Conducting statutory nuisance investigations
  • Delivery of food hygiene training including the CIEH foundation certificate
  • Preparation and service of legal notices and preparation of prosecution reports.

Client Projects / Case Studies

Joanne has been seconded to Ernst & Young on a full time basis.  Her responsibilities include providing on site health and safety advice, support and training including:

  • Advising managers, partners and employees on health and safety matters
  • Carrying out general and specialist risk assessments, including display screen equipment and for pregnant women
  • Developing and implementing safety management systems and policies, including monitoring and feedback
  • Conducting health, safety and food hygiene audits
  • Conducting accident, incident and ill health investigations
  • Identification of training needs and design of health and safety training
  • Delivery of health and safety training, including, Fire Wardens’ training and Foundation Certificate in Food Hygiene
  • Carrying out site safety inspections
  • Monitoring the Permit to Work system
  • Designing and delivering health and safety promotions and campaigns
  • Organising first aid rotas and floor warden coverage
  • Maintaining first aid equipment and facilities on the London Estate and ordering supplies as required.
