BiographyFiona is a consultant with System Concepts. She holds a Bachelors degree in Occupational Therapy and a Bachelors degree in Ergonomics from La Trobe University, Australia. She is a Chartered Member of the Institute of Occupational Safety and Health. Before coming to London, Fiona was an active member of both the Safety Institute of Australia and the Human Factors and Ergonomic Society of Australia and sat on the committee for the Victorian branch of the latter. Prior to joining System Concepts, Fiona worked as a health and safety officer for Local Government in Australia before moving to London and working as a health and safety consultant. Fiona has a broad range of experience in a variety of different industries including finance, medical and health, manufacturing, construction, and agriculture, including work for a number of NHS trusts. Client projects/Case studiesFiona’s experience includes the following: - Providing manual handling advice and recommendations across a range of different industries
- Performing risk assessments for a variety of different hazards including lifting equipment, hazardous substances and display screen equipment
- Conducting health and safety audits for small to large organisations, including for one of the largest ports management companies within the UK
- Providing return to work assistance for injured workers
- Developing policies and procedures in line with current legislation
- Conducting training programmes including general health and safety inductions, DSE assessor, fire marshal, fire extinguisher, manual handling and patient handling techniques for clients including Ernst and Young, Tribunal Services, and the Office of Fair Trading
- Conducting fire risk assessments for large NHS facilities
- Running fire evacuation drills for medium-sized buildings – including the evacuation of disabled or bed bound patients
- Carrying out incident investigations including reportable incidents
- Assisting with the implementation of a permit to work system for a large multi-site organisation
- Providing injury management advice and corresponding ergonomic recommendations for companies including Barclays Bank, Cisco Systems, Getty Images, and the Department for Business, Enterprise and Regulatory Reform
