Leslie Sponsors Ergonomics Student Award

Leslie FountainLeslie Fountain, joint MD of System Concepts has sponsored an award to be presented by the Association of Canadian Ergonomists Atlantic Chapter (ACE-A).

The Leslie Fountain Student Award will be presented to a student member of the association who, as a result of their significant and unique contribution to ACE-A, deserves special recognition.

In 1997 Leslie was the first student representative on the ACE-A executive committee while studying for a Masters Degree at Dalhousie University.  Leslie threw her infectious energy into invigorating other chapter activities, assisting with local meetings, contributing to the newsletter and, in March 1999 with help from her fellow students, organizing the first conference and AGM.

The first recipient of the award is Julie Matthews who was the student representative in 2007/8 for her work on ergonomics research projects and her co-ordination of conferences and meetings for the association.

Leslie concludes:

I am honoured and delighted to be able to present this award, and Julie is a very deserving winner, continuing to raise the profile of ergonomics throughout the Atlantic region.

Our working partnership with the consultancy ensures that we are achieving compliance with best practice in ergonomics, health and safety legislation and
standards.
