Investors in People 1999, 2003, 2006In 1999 we were awarded the Investors in People (IIP) National Standard for excellence in business development through people. We scored in the highest category on 23 out of the 25 performance indicators evaluated by the IIP assessor. The award was renewed in 2003 and 2006.
Award winning consultants:
The Ergonomics Society 2007, Hywel Murrell AwardCatherine Cooper, consultant with System Concepts received the Hywel Murrell award from the Ergonomics Society for her undergraduate project on the use of probes to enhance insight into the user experience.
British Institute of Facilities Management (BIFM) Award for Training Programme Presenter of the Year 2002 and 2003
Christine Critchley, senior consultant with System Concepts, has won the prestigious British Institute of Facilities Management (BIFM) Award for Training Programme Presenter of the Year, one of twelve categories in the BIFM 'Investors in Excellence' Awards Programme for 2 consecutive years, in 2002 and 2003.
Ergonomics Society 2003, the Otto Edholm Award
This award was presented to Andrea Caws, Director of System Concepts, in recognition of her contribution to ergonomics, particularly in the application of ergonomics to business situations and her input to national and international ergonomics standards committees.

Tom Stewart, Managing Director of System Concepts has received this award in recognition of the outstanding contribution he has made to the field of ergonomics worldwide, particularly his key role in the development of international standards.

MCA Gold Award 2005 and Computing Awards for Excellence 2004 for Transport DirectTransport Direct is a unique new travel information and journey planning web site for Great Britain. System Concepts have been involved since the start of the project, providing expert guidance on usability and accessibility on behalf of the Department for Transport. In 2004, the website won 'Public Sector Project of the Year category of the Computing Awards for Excellence 2004 and in 2005 it won Gold Award for Electronic Trading presented by the Management Consultancies Association (MCA) and Management Today magazine.
UnumProvident Healthy Workplaces Award Big Tick 2005 and HSE Regional Award 2002 for Ernst and Young
System Concepts provides full-time on-site resource to Ernst and Young to help them manage their health and safety. The Big Tick is awarded to companies that demonstrate a high standard of excellence in the way they organise and integrate their responsible business practices, showing a positive impact both on society and on the business. The HSE award in 2002 was won by a health and safety promotion, Well@Work, a wide-ranging initiative to combat stress in the workplace.
BBCi Accessible Design Award 2003
System Concepts conducted a research project for BBCi, reviewing and testing websites, interviewing experts and users and generated a series of recommendations and guidelines to feed into the BBC's accessibility initiative. BBCi have subsequently won an award for accessible website design.
2002 Service Excellence Awards: Overall Winner & Financial Services Nationwide Building Society
System Concepts provides on-going usability support to the Nationwide usability centre and has made a significant contribution to the advancements made by the centre. The role of the Usability Centre "where trained staff observe customers' reactions to new technology which is an example of the lengths to which Nationwide will go to discover and meet customer requirements" was identified by the judges as a key contribution to their success in winning this award.
Millennium Product for Marks and Spencer
Tom Stewart directed a project for Marks and Spencer to design a new refrigerated display case, ensuring ergonomics was kept at the centre of the design process. The design was selected as a Millennium Product for its innovation in energy efficiency, ergonomics and accessibility.
