Biography

Matt is a consultant with System Concepts. He holds a BSc in Information Management and Computing from Loughborough University, and an MSc in Human-Computer Interaction with Ergonomics from University College London. He is also a member of the Usability Professionals’ Association, the Ergonomics Society and the British Computer Society.

Matt’s undergraduate dissertation involved carrying out research into the state of Web accessibility by analysing websites and interviewing numerous Web developers about their awareness of accessibility. He received a Diploma of Professional Studies when he worked for a year at Xerox: Global Knowledge and Language Services (GKLS) providing IT support for translators and desktop publishers.

While undertaking his master’s degree he studied usability and ergonomics, including: user interface design and evaluation, user testing, human cognitive capabilities, physical ergonomics and organisational informatics. Matt’s MSc thesis evaluated the aesthetics of websites using a materials analysis questionnaire and a set of visual design heuristics, which he developed.
